Ferro Titanium


Ferro Titanium is an alloy produced by aluminothermic reaction of Titanium oxide with Iron in the presence of Aluminium. Titanium is usually present in the range Ti: 25 – 75%. Titanium is used in steel making for deoxidation, grain size control, Carbon & Nitrogen control & stabilization. During steel making, Titanium is usually introduced as it has lower melting point compared to Titanium metal. Ferro Silicon Titanium is also produced to allow the simultaneous addition of Silicon & Titanium. Ferro Titanium is used by stainless steel makers as a stabiliser to prevent chromium carbide forming at grain boundaries and in the production of low carbon steels for sheet production.

Application: Titanium is used in production of tool steel, airplane steel, high strength & high tensile steel, along with Stainless steel.
